2025 Legislative & Budget Priorities

These public policy priorities reflect the needs of our students, colleges, and the communities we serve across the Inland Empire.

Keeping college and career training affordable

Supporting financial aid and streamlined access to existing programs so students can complete training, enter the workforce, or transfer without unnecessary delays or debt.

Expanding job training for good-paying careers

Investing in workforce programs, apprenticeships, and career education pathways that prepare students for local jobs in health care, public safety, skilled trades, and other high-demand fields.

Supporting adult learners and working students

Allowing adults to earn credit for prior experience and complete job training faster, saving time, money, and taxpayer resources.

Building affordable student housing and addressing basic needs

Supporting housing and food access solutions that help students stay enrolled, complete training, and enter the workforce prepared.

Strengthening transfer and bachelor's degree pathways

Expanding community college bachelor's degrees and improving transfer between community colleges, Cal State, and UC so students can continue their education without repeating coursework.

Maintaining safe, modern learning and training facilities

Investing in classrooms, labs, emergency response training centers, and job training facilities that support hands-on learning and regional workforce needs.

Safeguarding fiscal stability for community colleges

Protecting core funding and emergency readiness so colleges can continue serving students and communities during crises.

Sustaining local public media as a public service

Supporting KVCR as a source of emergency information, educational programming, and local news for Inland Empire residents.
